My fossils

These impressions were found at Kimmeridge Bay Dorset.

They are such beautiful things don't you agree?

Also found in Dorset - this time at Lulworth Cove - a high magnification enhanced colour imagine of marine fossils.

This rock clearly shows some fibres squashed in between the layers. It appears to be of some plant-based material - possibly roots or maybe stems.

Strange formations

Aysgarth
I have always been fascinated by surface features. Here at Aysgarth there are some 'depressions' which are smooth and circular. One explanation as to how they have arisen is that small pebbles which are harder than the main rock get caught a
nd swirled around in a circular fashion as the water rises and falls.
I am not impressed by this 'explanation'. It seems to me that these holes are better explained by assuming that when these rocks formed there were softer objects (possibly plant or animal life or maybe softer rock) which were caught in the rapidly forming rocks. When the waters that carried these sediments eventually settled leaving the
rocks to harden, the softer objects whether they be the dead remains plants or animals of or just softer rock would then be washed out or may have rotted away in time.

Cocklawburn Beach
This next photograph was taken at Cocklawburn beach near Berwick-upon-Tweed. It shows not depressions but 'lumps'. Around this area are all sorts of fossils including marine and worm-like animals. Perhaps when the waters that carried these sediments eventually formed there were slowly falling deposits that covered the agglomeration of rocks and other soon-to-be fossilised fossils.

Embleton Bay
At Embleton Bay on the east coast south of Berwick-upon-Tweed there is a very curious set of rocks which can only be described as a flat base with roughly circular 'holes' which have a textured undercut base:

I think that it is quite obvious that these rocks and their 'holes' all formed at one and the same time. Perhaps when the rocks were being formed certain creatures were caught up and squashed into the settling rocks. Later on the decaying creatures were washed away leaving these formations. The textured base of the holes are probably the remains of the creature's surface form.

Attenborough and fossils

Beautiful worm-like fossils
I was intrigued to see that David Attenborough has been at it again but this time it was all about fossils. It was such a well produced programme and he is such a compelling story teller. But then that is all the programme was about - story telling! I still find it remarkable that grown men and women believe this nonsense about the fossil record! Here's an image of fossils I took last year at Cocklawburn Beach south of Berwick-upon-Tweed.
What compels people to stake their faith in the unbelievable idea that we have evolved from simple organisms over millions of years. Whatever way you cut it you end up worshipping some form of creature. Indeed Attenborough as much as said this when he stated that we owe our very life to the first creatures that crawled out of the sea some ....... million years ago.
Like I said it is clearly patent nonsense of the worst kind. I have been a fossil hunter for some thirty years and it is quite interesting to note in passing that the fossils cannot actually tell you anything. They are mute beasts and they are stubborn in yielding 'truth'. What people do in effect is to impose the 'truth' on the geology and fossil evidence we can all see. To me what I see every time I go on a hunt is a vast testament to God's judgment on the world. Fossils are formed when things get covered in water and sediments. It is a simple as that! I have found fossil on the east coast near Berwick and in scotland, on the south coast in Dorset, on the Gower peninsula and in the rivers of Yorkshire where I now live. What fascinates me is that wherever you go you find this evidence of the land having once been inundated with water. This is clear testimony to the awesomeness of God. He warned the world that judgment was coming and despite providing not only the warning but also the means of salvation, it was soundly rejected by the people of those days. Are we as blind and stupid as they when we read in the Bible that God has reserved this world for judgment not by water but by fire? I do hope not!
I would like to begin to document and detail some of the geology and fossil finds I have made over the years. These thoughts are entirely my own and they are borne out of a deep conviction and love for the Lord jesus Christ is God incarnate, the Redeemer of those who put their trust in Him and the soon coming King of all the universe!
